Start with the job. Regular refresh cleans, stain and odour removal, end-of-tenancy cleans, upholstery and rugs, and flood or water damage each need different methods, so check the cleaner offers what you need.
Ask about the cleaning method, hot water extraction (steam) versus low-moisture, and the likely drying time, which matters if you need the room back quickly. Confirm whether stain treatment, deodorising and moving furniture are included.
Look for experience with your carpet or fabric type, especially wool and delicate upholstery, and a clear quote. Good reviews on results, drying and reliability are the best guide.
Carpet cleaning is often priced per room or by the area, commonly around $40 to $60 a room with a minimum charge, and upholstery quoted separately. Stairs, heavy staining and end-of-tenancy cleans may cost more, so get a quote first.
With hot water extraction, carpets are usually touch-dry within a few hours and fully dry within a day, depending on ventilation and the weather. Low-moisture methods dry faster. Good airflow speeds things up.
Many stains come out with the right treatment, though some, like dye, bleach or very old marks, may be permanent. A good cleaner will tell you honestly what is likely to lift before starting.
Most carpet cleaners also clean lounge suites, dining chairs, mattresses and rugs. Mention these when booking so the right equipment and products are on the truck.
Yes. Many tenancy agreements expect carpets to be professionally cleaned, and a receipt helps with getting your bond back. Confirm the cleaner provides one.
Every 12 to 18 months suits most homes, more often with kids, pets or high traffic. Regular cleaning extends the life of your carpet and keeps allergens down.
